En su metodología destaca el uso de la puntada como ritual de herida y reparación; un acto donde la aguja actúa como un dispositivo que incide y rompe la continuidad de la fibra para, simultáneamente, suturar y generar nuevas estructuras capilares.
Explora cómo las arquitecturas simbólicas del mundo de internet y las estructuras sociales producen accidentes geográficos en la topografía cárnica: pliegues, tensiones y relieves que modifican la geografía de la consciencia. La materia, al ser intervenida, se convierte en un vestigio y un archivo vivo que porta la memoria de un territorio emocional habitado.
Cada pieza busca recuperar una percepción pausada frente a la anestesia emocional contemporánea, invitando al espectador a transformarse en un explorador. La obra propone recorrer el cuerpo-mapa a través de senderos intuitivos. En última instancia, su producción no busca representar la figura humana, sino evidenciar cómo las fuerzas colectivas modelan silenciosamente nuestra superficie e identidad, transformando el cuerpo en un paisaje de resistencia y topofilia afectiva.
Andrea Rolpez’s work offers an introspective exploration of the human body, understood as a territory and a living archive. Her practice forms part of a line of research that conceives of corporeality as a space that is inhabited, mapped out and constantly reinterpreted by consciousness. Her artistic language is articulated through a somatic cartography in which fabric is presented as a metaphor for the skin: a receptive, porous surface upon which the imprints of culture, politics and the socio-cultural consequences of digitalisation are indelibly inscribed.
Her practice began with neuroscientific research aimed at gaining a deep understanding of the effects of the psyche on the body; her current work has shifted from analysis towards a phenomenology of sensation shaped by the environment. At this stage, Rolpez’s focus is on how intangible elements—desire, identity or power—interact with matter. A key feature of her methodology is the use of the stitch as a ritual of wounding and repair; an act in which the needle acts as a tool that pierces and breaks the continuity of the fibre in order to simultaneously suture it and create new capillary structures.
